IMP International Management Programme University certificate

In the International Management Programme (IMP) you will develop the necessary skills to operate successfully in the international management environment. The programme includes modules such as International Strategy, Business English and Accounting. In addition, you choose focus courses in the areas of General Management, Sales Management or Supply Chain Management. During your stay abroad for several weeks (in Australia, South Africa or Thailand) you will deepen your intercultural skills.

Is this the right course for you?

You have a busy schedule but are interested in international management knowledge like in a comprehensive MBA programme? Then the International Management Programme (IMP) is a good choice for you. In the first part of the programme you will acquire basic knowledge in Accounting, International Strategy and Business English. By choosing a major, you can specialise in one of three areas: General Management, International Supply Chain Management or International Sales Management. The second part of the IMP focuses on intercultural topics. During your stay abroad, you will take courses at one of our partner universities. At the end of your training, you will apply your newly acquired knowledge in a three-month project. Alternatively, you can take part in the project week, in which you work on a practical case study. The IMP is a combination of modules from the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme. You study together with the MBA students.

Modular studies What does that mean?

The IMP is a modular study programme and thus a compact compilation of modules from the MBA. You complete the modular study programme with an examination. You will then receive a university certificate and a university transcript showing the ECTS credits earned. If you still want to complete a Master’s degree, you can have the completed modules credited to you.

The International Management Programme (IMP) is composed of the following modules:

  • Business English
  • Fundaments of Accounting
  • Introduction to Scientific Methodology
  • Additional focus lectures: General Management, Supply Chain Management or Sales Management

part: international module

  • International Marketing
  • International Strategy
  • optionally in Bangkok, Cape Town or Brisbane

part: case study or project

  • Three-month project work in a company
  • or participation in the project week with a practical case work
Your IMP takes place at Kempten Business School on the campus of Kempten University of Applied Sciences.
Schedule Study while working

The IMP comprises 180 teaching hours at Kempten Business School, two MBA seminars abroad and a project work. The lectures usually take place on weekends from Friday to Sunday (from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.). The lectures, modules abroad and project work are spread over 6 months. The schedule is worked out individually for you.


Which focus would you like to choose?

General Management

Markets, customer demands, technologies and the availability of resources are changing ever faster. The same applies to the political and financial framework conditions for companies. As a manager, you are therefore constantly faced with the challenge of developing and implementing fundamental changes in your organisation. For this, you need skills in the areas of market analysis, entrepreneurship, intercultural behaviour and change management.

International Sales Management

Sales play an important role not only for established products, but also for complex, novel and accordingly consultation-intensive products. In addition to product satisfaction, customer satisfaction in sales and service is a central customer retention factor or, if not present, also a reason for customer churn. In this track you will learn how to develop innovative sales concepts, customer-focused advice and effective sales processes and systems. In the B2B sector, efficient key account management plays a special role, which must be precisely aligned with international sales structures and target groups. Lecturers from the private and business customer sectors help you to develop into a sales expert.

International Supply Chain Management

Supply chain management is more topical than ever. Not least the Corona pandemic has shown how important the topic is. Distribution channels suddenly shift, supply flows change because suppliers are unable to deliver or transport routes do not work. This is why the economy needs qualified managers with knowledge of logistics and supply chain management in an international environment. In this specialisation, you learn to plan, implement and control logistical processes.

Admission requirements

You should meet the following admission criteria:

  • A higher education degree (university, university of applied sciences, Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University)
  • At least two years of post-graduate vocational experience
  • Good knowledge of English

Alternative qualifications to those cited above will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Most of the lectures take place at the weekend. However, we will arrange your lecture schedule individually for you – depending on which module abroad and which focus you choose.
