Funding Options

There are various options for funding or financing your in-service training. Here we give you a brief overview to make your search easier. Please note that these are the most common funding options, without guarantee of completeness.

State funding programs

Bayerisches Staatsministerium für Wirtschaft und Kunst

You can find a comprehensive overview of state funding programs such as scholarships or grants (National Scholarship Program, Continuing Education Scholarship, Advancement Scholarship, Education Premium) and loans (KfW Student Loan, Education Loan) on the website of the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts.

Nationales Stipendienprogramm (Deutschlandstipendium)

  • Study format: open to all study formats (except doctoral studies)
  • Age restrictions: none
  • Funding amount: 300 euros per month
  • Eligibility criteria: especially gifted and performance-oriented students, explicitly also professionally qualified students

Weiterbildungsstipendium

  • Study format: in-service training (also undergraduate)
  • Age restrictions: Applicants must be younger than 25 (younger than 28 if credit periods are taken into account)
  • Amount of funding: up to a total of 8,100 euros
  • Eligibility criteria: completed vocational training

Aufstiegsstipendium

  • Study format: first degree (bachelor) only, full-time or part-time
  • Age restrictions: none
  • Amount of funding: 934 euros per month for the duration of the standard period of study (plus 80 euros book allowance and, if applicable, a care allowance of 160 euros for children under 14 years of age) for full-time studies or 2,900 euros per year for part-time studies
  • Eligibility criteria: particularly successful graduates of a vocational training program with at least two years of work experience.

Bildungsprämie

  • Study format: especially for smaller continuing education courses (also for pre-courses)
  • Age restrictions: none
  • Funding amount: 50% of the further education costs (50% own contribution), but not more than 500 euros per year
  • Eligibility criteria: only for employed persons with a taxable annual income of less than 20,000 euros (single persons) or 40,000 euros (jointly assessed couples)

Loans

The Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) grants loans with favorable conditions to finance your studies.

Abschlussdarlehen der Darlehenskasse der Bayerischen Studentenwerke e.V.

  • Study format: granting of graduation loans for exam preparation. Graduation loans may be awarded for up to four semesters.
  • Age restrictions: none
  • Amount of funding: monthly maximum of 700 EUR, maximum total amount of 17,000 EUR (only against security, e.g. by guarantee)

Überbrückungsdarlehen Studentenwerk Augsburg

  • Prerequiste: unforeseen, acute and temporary financial hardship; personal counseling interview, proof of hardship.
  • Age restriction: none
  • Amount of assistance: short-term, interest-free bridging loan. There is no legal entitlement to the payment of this assistance.

KfW-Studienkredit / KfW-Programm 174

  • Study format: first degree as well as additional, supplementary, postgraduate and doctoral studies – full-time, part-time and part-time.
  • Age restrictions: Applicants must be younger than 44 years at the time of application
  • Amount of funding: up to 650 euros per month, depending on requirements

Unterstützung durch dein Unternehmen

Many employers see it as positive when their employees want to continue their education. That’s why it can be worthwhile to talk to your manager or the HR department to clarify possible forms of support.

Conceivable are:

  • Financial support lump sum (monthly or annually)
  • Adjusted working hours
  • Support through educational leave, special leave or time off for exam preparation
  • Assumption of tuition fees after successful completion (in full or in part)

Many of our participants are supported by their employers. It is therefore worthwhile to talk to them.

Kredite und Fonds

There are numerous providers of educational loans. Therefore, inform yourself well in advance and compare the offers.

Steuerliche Absetzbarkeit

Costs for professional training or studies can be deducted from taxes as income-related expenses or special expenses. Depending on your tax bracket, you can be reimbursed for a considerable amount of the costs incurred. Förderung für Soldatinnen und Soldaten

Soldiers have the option of having the Vocational Support Service (Berufsförderungsdienst, BFD) pay for their studies. For more information, contact your local BFD counseling center or visit www.bfd.bundeswehr.de

Bildungszeit Baden-Württemberg

We are a recognized educational institution according to § 10 paragraph 3 of the Bildungszeitgesetz Baden-Württemberg (BzG BW). If you work in Baden-Württemberg, you can take up to five days off per year for your continuing education with us. You can find more information here
